The simple version of our Privacy Policy
We think you should understand what happens to your information when you use LastMind.
This page explains it in simple language. You can also read our full Privacy Policy if you want all the legal details.
When you make a LastMind account, we ask for things such as:
We don’t ask you for your gender.
We use your date of birth to check that you’re 13 or older - you need to be 13 or older to create a LastMind account. We ask for your actual date of birth rather than just a tick-box, because a tick-box on its own isn’t considered a strong enough check any more.
LastMind is designed to learn about how you learn so that it can decide what would be useful for you next.

This helps LastMind work out things like: “You probably need to practise this again”, rather than simply showing everyone the same lessons.
We also use this same information to put together a weekly progress report for you - a summary of how your studying went that week (things like how many concepts you strengthened, roughly how long you studied for, and how accurate you were). It's generated automatically once the week is over, it's only ever visible to you on your own account, and we keep past ones so you can look back on how you've been doing.
The law says a company can only use your information if it has a good enough reason. Here are ours:
Yes. We use AI to help with things such as: marking some answers, creating questions, creating learning content, identifying possible mistakes or misconceptions, and helping personalise your learning.
Before your answers or notes are sent to our AI provider, we automatically try to remove personal details like email addresses, phone numbers or addresses - this happens every time, not just sometimes. It’s done by a computer program, not a person, so it can occasionally miss something unusual - try not to put personal information you don’t need to into your answers or notes anyway.
AI can sometimes make mistakes. We therefore don’t want you to assume that an AI-generated explanation or mark is always correct, and we don’t promise that an AI-given mark or grade matches what you’d get in a real exam or from a teacher.
LastMind uses your learning information to personalise your experience. For example, it might decide: “Show this concept again”, or: “This student seems to understand this, so move on.” It can also estimate things such as how difficult something is for you and how likely you are to remember it.
This is called profiling because a computer is using information about your activity to make predictions about you. We use this for your learning experience. We don’t use it to decide things like whether you should get a job, a loan or a place at university.
We use other companies to help LastMind work. For example, we use companies that provide: databases and account systems (based in the UK), website and server infrastructure (based in the UK and in Germany), AI services (based in the US), payment processing, and email services.
We only want these companies to receive the information they need to provide their services. We don’t currently sell your personal information, and we don’t currently use your LastMind activity to build advertising audiences for other companies.
No. LastMind does not currently need your precise location to provide the service. We aren’t currently collecting your GPS location to personalise your learning or show you rewards.
You can delete your account yourself, from your account settings. When you do, we delete your account details and your personal learning history and notes - we don’t just hide your name and keep the rest.
We may keep information that’s genuinely anonymous, added together with lots of other students’ information, because it helps us understand and improve how LastMind works overall. Anonymous means we can’t reasonably work out that it belongs to you specifically - not just that your name has been removed.
Yes. Depending on the situation, you have rights including asking us to: show you the information we have about you; correct information that is wrong; delete your information; stop or limit certain uses of your information; and provide certain information in a usable format.

LastMind is intended for people aged 13 and over. You don’t need to give us your parent’s details simply because you are 13 or older.
However, privacy can sometimes be complicated. If you’re unsure about something, talk to a parent, guardian or another trusted adult before making a decision about your information.
Some LastMind activities let you type answers. Try not to put unnecessary personal information into your answers. For example, you don’t need to write your home address, phone number or someone else’s private information into an answer to a biology question.
